Intracellular Fluid Definition
Intracellular fluid refers to the fluid found within the cells of multicellular organisms. Consequently, intracellular fluid is retained throughout the intracellular compartments of the body. In descriptions of cellular activities, intracellular fluid is frequently referenced to as cytosol. The cytoplasm is composed of the cytosol as well as the organelles and substances found therein. Extracellular fluid, which dwells on the outside of cells in the extracellular compartment of the body, is diametrically opposed to intracellular fluid.
